I think there are no words to describe how happy I feel to have Bastien Salabanzi in the Top 5. I grew up watching his videos, photos, almost instantly becoming one of my favorite skaters of all time. Pop, perseverance, sacrifice, are some of the aspects that best describe this French skater.

Creo que no hay palabras para describir lo feliz que me siento de contar con Bastien Salabanzi en el Top 5.
Crecí viendo sus videos, fotos, convirtiéndose casi instantáneamente en uno de mis skaters favoritos de todos los tiempos.
Pop, constancia, sacrificio, son alguno de los aspectos que mejor describen a este skater proveniente del país Galo.

1. When did you start skateboarding? and why? ¿Cuando empezaste a andar en skate? y ¿porqué?
I started skating in 1994 at 9 years old because I randomly saw skaters rolling by me and one of em did an Ollie. I thought that was amazing so I picked up a board shortly after.

Comencé a patinar en el 94, a los 9 años, porque vi a un skater patinar y hacer un ollie. Pensé que eso era increible, asi que rapidamente consegui un skate despues de eso.

I use to skate for Axion, Vans and Etnies.

4. A characteristic that a shoe should have for you to choose. Característica que sí o sí debe tener una zapa para que la elijas
I like my skate shoes to be very close to the ground. Basically a thin sole is key. My favorite material is suede, I like the grip.

Me gusta sentir el suelo y la clave para eso es que las zapatillas tengan una suela delgada. Mi material favorito es la gamuza, porque tienen un buen agarre.

5. What is your favorite era of skate shoes? ¿Cuál es tu época de zapas preferidas?
My favorite era for skate shoes was probably back in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Even if most shoes were bigger than now I feel like shoe brands were not scared to try things out of the ordinary. Some great shoes came out of that.

6. Were there any skate shoes you loved and never could have? ¿Hubo algunas zapas que amabas y nunca la pudiste tener?
I loved Koston’s first shoe with És but I never had a pair for some reason. I had the Koston 2 tho, in white and red. They were super dope. Loved em.

Amaba el primer pro model de Koston para éS, y por alguna razón nunca tuve uno. Tuve las K2 en blanco y rojo, eran increíbles, me encantaban.

7. Top 5 old skool shoes
When I was a kid I use to skate the Axion Kareem Campbell they were so sick. I also skated the Axion Guy Mariano,loved em too. After that I skated a lot of Vans like the Fairlane, the Willy Santos, then Geoff Rowley’s first shoe worked really well for me. I skated those for a long time before having my own shoe with Vans.

Cuando era chico usaba mucho para patinar las Axion Kareem Campbell, era increibles. También el pro model de Guy Mariano, las amaba.
Después de eso use mucho las Vans para patinar, en especial las Fairlane, las Willy Santos y luego el primer pro model de Geoff Rowley funcionaba perfecto para mi. Patine esas zapatillas por mucho tiempo antes de tener mi propio pro model con Vans.

8. Top 5 actual era
It’s tough for me to pick my current top 5 skate shoes cause I’ve been skating the Janoski’s (Nike) for so long now. They just work for me. I like the look of some Adidas shoes I saw. The Lucas Puig and the Miles Silvas look great. I’ve always been a fan of the Sal 23/ Accel so i’m stoked they’re still making those. They’re true classics in my book. Especially in that beige suede colorway.

Es dificil para mi elegir un Top 5, ya que he estado patinado por mucho tiempo las Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski, estas funcionan perfecto para mi. Me gustan como lucen algunas Adidas que he visto, el pro model de Lucas Puig y el colorway de Miles Silvas lucen realmente bien.
Siempre fui fan de las éS Sal 23 y las Accel, sigo impresionado que ellos sigan haciéndolas, son realmente un clásico para mi, especialmente las color beige de gamuza.
